The Panels...
I gave the first presentation of my research about Spirited Away at the Sakuracon 2010, one of the best anime and manga conventions in the Pacific Northwest.
The session was titled Hidden by Gods: Folklore in Miyazaki's Spirited Away. So many people came! I was so terrified and honored and... and... terrified! I was really impressed by how interested and knowledgeable the participants were. Even though the panel was an hour long we didn't have nearly enough time.
Here are the slides, notes, and bibliography from the 2010 session.

I've continued my research over the past year and I'll be giving a revised and expanded presentation of the session at Sakuracon 2011. This time we have 2.5 hours. You might be thinking, Whoa! That's a long time! Not really. I've broken it up into three mini sessions. People can come to all or just one. Each session will be 40 minutes with a dedicated 10 minutes after for questions. Session one is setting. Session two is characters. Session three are about specific themes.
